Dope or Nope 11/23: The Return of Charles Hamilton

23 11 2009

Charles Hamilton – Charles Hamilton is Back

Remember this dude Charles Hamilton; the pink wearing, emotional, Sonic the Hedgehog enthusiast? After a number of strange incidents throughout his career (getting punched by his ladyfriend, beefing with Soulja Boy and others, and album issues) Charles Hamilton disappeared from the scene. He was killing the mixtape circuit for a minute with numerous mixtapes dropping, but suddenly went AWOL. He’s back after a 5 month hiatus with this track “Chalres Hamilton is Back” off an upcoming mixtape titled The Normalcy Project due out December 9th. Is it safe to say Charles Hamilton is back?

What’s Beef: Beanie Sigel Drops Two Diss Joints to Jay-z

23 11 2009

Beanie Sigel – How I Can Kill Jigga Man/Think BIG

It seems that the beef that started last month between former Roc=a-Fella artist Beanie Sigel and Jay continues. Over this past weekend, Beanie Sigel dropped two diss tracks towards Jay-z titled “How I Can Kill Jigga Man” and “Think BIG”. On “How I Can Kill Jigga Man”, Beans hops on Cypress Hill’s classic “How I Can Kill a Man” and rips it while taking shots at Hov. Sigel fires shots at Jay-z and also tells Memph Bleek to stop bitchin on “Think BIG” . Ironically, this is the fourth track with Beanie getting at Jay but he is still yet to respond on wax.

Fabolous feat. Kobe – Imma Do It Vodpod videos no longer available.

Continuing his mobster theme for his album, Fabolous brings you “Imma Do It” from his Loso’s Way joint. Like the rest of the album, adds a movie feel to his latest video. Recently Fab had a “all black party” like Jay’s “Run This Town” and he also stuck to the dress code with this latest video.

Album Review: 50 Cent – Before I Self Destruct

19 11 2009

Before I Self Destruct
Throughout 50 Cent’s career, he’s proved himself to be a rap superstar and a tyrant in the industry. His first two albums sold impressively and his previous LP, Curtis didn’t sell as well as expected but still managed to go Platinum. Fif was so confident in Curtis‘ success that he even bet his rap career that he would outsell Kanye West’s Graduation which was going to be released the same day. Eventhough 50 lost the bet and received average reviews, he’s back with his newest album Before I Self Destruct. After being pushed back several times, will Before I Self Destruct put 50 back on his Get Rich or Die Tryin’ status or be another Curtis?

Tyga – Black Thoughts

As promised, Young Money artist Tyga drops his newest mixtape, Black Thoughts. If you tweet heavy like I do, then you saw this as the #1 trending topic on Twitter, but was mixed up with people posting Black folks thoughts. Regardless, it granted Tyga some attention for his latest project. Tyga recently dropped a notable verse on Wayne’s No Ceilings Mixtape with his feature on “That’s All I Have”. In other Young Money news, the rap crew plans to release their album We Are Young Money on December 15th.

Letoya Luckett Plays Erk Tha Jerk’s “Right Here” At House Of Soul Concert

18 11 2009

Recently I posted a NextUp feature on Erk The Jerk (click here to check it out), and the growing success of his current single “Right Here”. In the video shown above, songstress Letoya Luckett puts it on at the House of Soul concert in the Bay area and the crowd goes crazy. The joint is big in the Bay and getting burn in LA, and the video proves that people are feeling it.
