In 2002, the Clipse released their breakout hit “Grindin'” instantly gaining everyone’s attention as the duo ripped the Neptunes classic instrumental. Following up their debut hit, they released the club anthem “When’s the Last Time” showing their persistence with singles. Their Neptune-produced album Lord Willin’ featured both tracks, and many more bangers about lying females, their differences from other rappers, and more raps about crack than all of Jeezy’s albums combined. Their following album Hell Hath No Fury was fully produced by the Neptunes as well, but didn’t have the mainstream success as their debut, yet and still was well received by critics. Three years later, they strike back with their current album Til The Casket Drops, slightly switching up their subject matter and swapping out a couple of Neptunes beats with Sean C. & LV, and upcoming producer DJ Khalil. Will the Clipse’s changes to their content and production affect their reliable strategy, or will Til The Casket Drops prove their consistency?

Got Ya Covered: Clipse – Til The Casket Drops (Album Cover)
12 11 2009Clipse – Til The Casket Drops
The Clipse collab with New York artist KAWS once again for the album cover of their third LP Til The Casket Drops. KAWS is also responsible for creating three of their single covers and also the cover of the Complex Magazine where the duo was featured. While I’m a fan of animated album covers and KAWS’ work, this one is average. In my opinion it’s ideal for a single or a album promo, but as an official album cover it could’ve been hotter. Regardless, I know the album will be a banger. Til The Casket Drops will be in stores December 8th.

Dope or Nope 10/23: New Clipse x Killa Cam!
23 10 2009Clipse feat. Cam’ron & Pharrell – Popular Demand (Popeyes)
Earlier this week snippets of this joint leaked, and now the full track is here. Cam, who’s been lowkey lately hops on the piano-driven Neptunes instrumental making this a sick collaboration. The Clipse third album Till the Casket Drops, is shaping up pretty nicely with songs like “Popeyes”, “I’m Good” and “Kinda Like a Big Deal”. Till the Casket Drops is coming December 8th!

Album Info: Clipse – Till The Casket Drops (Tracklisting + Production Credits)
20 10 2009
VA duo The Clipse prep their third LP on Re-Up/Columbia Records. The album features the singles “Kinda Like a Big Deal” with Kanye West, the Pharrell assisted “I’m Good”, as well as the remix featuring Rick Ross. As usual, the production consists of primarily Neptunes beats, but Push & Mal also link up with DJ Khalil (who produced “Kinda Like a Big Deal”), and the Hitmen. As far as guest appearances, Kanye West, Rick Cam’Ron, Keri Hilson, Pharrell, and others appear on the album. Till The Casket Drops will be in stores December 8th.

Dope or Nope 6/11: New Clipse!
11 06 2009Clipse – I’m Good feat. Pharrell (Produced by The Neptunes)
It’s been a long day for me and before I catch some Z’s I’m postin’ this new Clipse and Pharrell joint titled “I’m Good”. “I’m Good” will appear off their forthcoming album Till the Casket Drops, in stores September 8th. Pharrell comes thru for an appearance on the track and a dope piano, synthesized beat. If the album sounds like “I’m Good” and the predecessor “Kinda Like a Big Deal” with Kanye, then this should be the third superb album from the VA duo.
