Dope or Nope 6/10: Who’s Realer Than Ruff Ryders?

10 06 2009

Jadakiss feat. The Lox, DMX, Eve, Swizz Beatz & Drag-On – Who’s Real (Remix)RuffRyders
Remember when Ruff Ryders was one of the sickest crews in the game? Dope stuff right? Jada replaces OJ Da Juiceman (thank God) with his old squad (The Lox, DMX, Swizz, Drag-On, and even Eve) for the remix of his latest single, “Who’s Real?”. Hopefully this remix will inspire rap crews to get back together and put out some material. There’s far too many solo acts in the game right now and the limited collaborations that exist are typically the same artists. Pardon my rant, hit up the link below to check out this remix.

Got Ya Covered: The Old Generation Vs. XXL’s New Generation

21 10 2008

XXL’s December issue features Hip Hop’s new generation. There are three different covers including newcomers Charles Hamilton, Wale, Asher Roth, B.O.B., and many more.

This cover is reminiscent to The Source’s outstanding June 1998 cover that featured raps new generation at the time. The cover was a three page fold out, and unfortunately I can only find the first page of it.

Other artists that made the cover were: Big Pun, Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz, Cam’Ron, Noreaga, and Canibus. Let’s evaluate where these artists are now…

Takin’ Em Back – 9/12

LL Cool J feat. Method Man and Redman, and DMX – 4,3,2,1

Since LL dropped an album this week it reminded me of one of my favorite joints ever. Two reasons why this song is so sick; one, it introduced DMX to the hip hop world, and the second is it sparked the beef with LL and Canibus. Originally Canibus had a line referring to LL’s mic tatt, LL took offense to it and went in on Canibus on his verse. Canibus rewrote his verse excluding the LL line, but LL kept his verse he wrote causing LL to diss Canibus on the same track they appeared on.

I had to throw in the remix which featured Methodman and Redman, DMX, Canibus, and Master P!

Lil’ Wayne’s Daughter is Still Alive

Despite the horrible rumor that arose early this week that Lil’ Wayne’s 8 year old daughter Reginae Carter was killed in a car accident, she is still alive and well. Lil Wayne has issued the following statement: “It has come to my attention that there are recent reports circulating regarding my daughter. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who are genuinely concerned about Reginae and her safety. Please allow me to dispel any rumors or speculations and report that my daughter is alive, healthy and surrounded by family who care and love her dearly. The rumors are completely false and unfounded; neither Reginae nor any other member of my family has been involved in any car accident. My family and I truly appreciate the concern and support shown to us.”
Speaking of the Carter, Tha Carter III has surpassed a milli twice coming in at #5 on the charts pushing over 67k units this week. C3 has sold 2,144,000 copies till this day.

Some joints that were played were “Tambourine” featuring T.I., “For Your Sorrows” featuring Too Short & George Clinton, “Daddy Fat Sacks”, and many others.
