Alicia Keys – Empire State of Mind Pt. II (Broken Down)

Recently Alicia Keys announced that she will be doing a sequel to her and Jay’s current smash, Empire State of Mind for her upcoming album. This time around, Alicia drops what sounds more like the piano version of the record excluding Jay. Hov or not, the song still sounds epic and will be on her upcoming The Element of Freedom album dropping December 15th.

The video for Jay’s current jawn is finally here. The video for the track is exactly how I pictured it; black and white footage and classic images of NY. “Empire State of Mind” is one of the best city anthems in a minute, and was ever performed at the Yankee Stadium in honor of the Yankee’s who made it to the World Series. I’m a little late with this one, but I’ve been busy handlin biz.
Since Sunday everyone’s been talking about the madness that is the MTV VMA’s. The topic of discussion has been Kanye’s rant against Taylor Swift, Lil Mama sneaking up onto Jay-z’s performance, and the bizarre Lady GaGa. Of course there were some pretty ladies in the building like Beyonce and the sexy Amber Rose, but who stood out the most to me was Alicia Keys.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Alicia Keys, but she appeared at the VMA’s looking sexy as ever. She also ended the show performing her collaboration with Jay-z, “Empire State of Mind” which was rudely interrupted by Lil Mama. The beautiful singer-songwriter/actress/humanitarian is working on her fourth album, and I’m also posting her new joint with this blog. Alicia Keys is currently dating Swizz Beatz.
