Seeing is Believing 8/24 – New Raekwon Video

24 08 2009

Raekwon feat. Ghostface, Inspecktah Deck, Method Man, and GZA – House of Flying Daggers
Vodpod videos no longer available.

Raekwon drops the second video off the highly anticipated sequel to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx dropping on September 8th. In traditional Wu style, Rae links up with his Wu fam and body a J. Dilla track. The Chef takes an animated approach for this video, featuring members of the Wu Tang with various styles. If you dig animated videos, you will definitely be feeling this one.

Ol’ Dirty Bastard – Brooklyn Zoo

My throwback joint of the day comes from the late Ol Dirty Bastard with the underground classic, “Brooklyn Zoo”. The joint was also sampled on Alicia Keys’ “Girlfriend” and Ghostface used vocals from this track on “9 Milli Brothers” off his Fishscale album.
Back in ’95, Dirt Mcgirt emerged from the Wu-Tang Clan with a raw, unique yet gritty character transcending into grimey New York hip hop. His debut album, Return to the 36 Chambers was well received by critics and fans, and even went platinum. We need more standout artists like this today.

UPDATE – Best News I Heard All Day: New Wu-Tang Album Coming Soon!

16 06 2009

wutang chamber music
I recently wrote a blog about a new Wu-Tang album that is supposed to drop this month (click here to read it). Sorry for the confusion, but it’s more like a compilation album. Instead of featuring all 9 Wu-Tang members, it will feature core members like Raekwon, Ghostface, RZA, Inspecktah Deck, and U-God. Chamer Music Vol. 1 will feature appearances by AZ, M.O.P., Havoc, and others. It will still drop on the 30th of this month, and it will be executively produced by RZA. Continue reading to peep the track listing.

Best News I Heard All Day: New Wu-Tang Album Coming Soon!

20 05 2009

Wu Tang Clan Chamber MusicI came across an ad for the legendary Wu-Tang Clan’s sixth studio album titled Chamber Music. Many people, including myself had no idea that a new Wu album was in the works, but apparently it is and is scheduled to be released June 30th. The last album 8 Diagrams was released in 2007 and the group experienced difficulties coming to an agreement about the music. Hopefully the unity is heavy on this project and it will be just as dope as their debut and some of their solo albums like Ironman.
There are also more solo albums coming from the Wu-Tang camp with Raekwon’s sequel to the classic Only Built 4 Cuban Linx dropping August 11th, and a new Method Man album dropping this Fall titled Crystal Meth.

Criminology ’95 Vs. Criminology ’09

Raekwon and Ghostface – Criminology ’09

This is what the games been missin’, some Wu shit! In ’95 Raekwon the Chef dropped the classic Only Built 4 Cuban Linx aka the Purple Tape. 14 years later, the follow up Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 is supposed to be released, and the first taste of what the Chef is cookin’ up is the ’09 version of his single with Ghostface “Criminology”. It’s a dope re-issue of the ’95 joint but they had to bring it back for those who forgot about the Wu duo. Which goes harder?

Ghostface Killah feat. Mary J. Blige – All That I Got Is You

Even though I didn’t become a GFK fan til his second album, I always thought this was a excellent track and it’s one of Ghost’s best to date. Ghostface does his descriptive storytelling as usual about his struggles coming up. The vivid lyrics Ghostface spits makes the audience feel his pain. To add to the soulful piano instrumental, the Wally Champ gets Mary J. on the hook making the track flawless.

Method Man – Judgement Day

As usual I’m droppin’ off my throwback joint of the week. Back when Y2K was approaching, people were going stir crazy. Therefore Method Man based his album theme on the Y2K craze. The video is supposed to be the aftermath of it all. On a side note, remember when Def Jam consisted of Jay-z, DMX, Method Man, Redman, Ja Rule, etc.? The good ole days.

Dope or Nope 10/31 – New Ghostface!

31 10 2008

Happy Halloween! I’m kicking things off with some new GFK!

Ghostface Killah – Computer Love

New joint from one of my most favorite MC’s Ghostface Killah. Surprisingly, I noticed he’s dropping an album titled Ghostdeini the Great which will feature remixes and unreleased tracks that will drop later this month. “Computer Love” is not included on the (rumored) tracklist, which means that Toney Starks has another project in the works. Ghost has put out 3 albums in the past 2 years, makes me wonder what’s going on at Def Jam?

NearClassics: Ghostface Killah – Supreme Clientele

24 10 2008

When it comes to new millennium classics, the first that come to mind are Blueprint and Stillmatic. An album that’s often overlooked is Supreme Clientele which is a classic in my opinion. Before I listened to Supreme Clientele, I knew Ghost as one of the standout members of the Wu. Though this is his sophomore album, it was my first full length GFK album that I’ve heard.

Ghostface Killah feat. Raekwon – Apollo Kids

I’ve been doing this blog thing for a while and I noticed I don’t have that many Ghostface Killah posts on here. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a huge GFK fan. For that, I bring to you the throwback joint of the day, “Apollo Kids” off the superb Supreme Clientele album. Check the jointage!
