News: Rick Ross Says Here I Am, Admits His Past x Nas, Face, & Cube Rumored to Form a Trio x Lil Wayne Still Grindin’

Rick Ross Finally Admits he was a Correctional Officer

A couple of months ago, Rick Ross had the internet going nuts. Not over new music, over rumors about his past profession as an correctional officer. Images began to surface the net of him on the job and eventually turned into a huge photoshop joke. The Boss recently spoke with a magazine and admitted it was him in a photo when asked if it was him. In Ross’ defense, he said “I never tried to hide my past. I put my name inside my cds. My company has my SS#. I could’ve put a company name… I done been up and I done been down and that’s what makes me what I am. I never ratted on a nigga. I never prosecuted a nigga. I never locked up a nigga, that’s first and foremost. I always felt that me being the nigga that I am, I never owed a nigga an explanation… When I’m making my music and I’m talking about blow, it’s because I did it. When I say that I’m rich off cocaine, it’s because i did it. Those are the street principals that apply.”
He should’ve said that from the jump and sparred him the embarrassment. As I’ve said before, hip hop fans are forgiving and eventually they’ll get over it. A lot of rappers get their cards pulled and are still relevant.

Scarface, Ice Cube, & Nas Rumored to Form Supergroup

Scarface’s final album Emeritus is due out in December. Face stated that before he bows out the game he always dreamed of doing a collabo project with Nas, Cube, and himself. As soon as Ice Cube heard the word, he was hyped about bringing it to life. Here’s what he had to say about it “I think the album would be crazy, lyrics would be sick, and Hip-Hop would love it. It’s just making that business happen, that’s the part that gets funky. I ain’t never turned down these kind of projects, they just don’t happen for whatever reasons. But I’m up for some s**t like this because I know we can make a dope record.”
The only person who hasn’t responded yet is Nas. It’s a good chance that this will be official.

News: Rick Ross Event Ends In Gunfire

7 08 2008

Rick Ross’ giving back to the community event called “Rick Ross Be Out Day”; where food, a scholarship, back to school essentials, and fun is offered to the community, ended on a bad note. The second annual event took place at Carol City Park, and ended with shots as soon as Ross and the Poe Boy crew took the stage. As a result, there are no injuries nor any suspects from the shooting.

Maybe it’s more to Rick Ross’ denial of his work history. If dudes are out to get him, why would they do it at an event like this where they can risk hurting a young one. Aside from the fact that young’n’s would be in danger, he was doing something positive and it ended in negativity.

Quick News: Diddy Engaged, Nas vs. Bill O’Reilly, and More!

25 07 2008

Cassie and Diddy Rumored to be Engaged

I’m not a hater, but I’m hatin! I’m jokin but I give props to Puff for takin one of the baddest chicks off the market. Though they’ve been engaged since early June, it was supposed to be on the low, but in the entertainment industry, there’s no such thing as a secret. There’s no set date for the marriage between the two.

Bill O’Reilly Gets At Nas

On July 23rd, Nas participated in a boycott started by ColorofChange.org and MoveOn.org protesting Fox News and Bill O’Reilly. Prior to that, Nas also released a song on his album titled “Sly Fox” expressing his thoughts on Fox and Bill’s blatant racist remarks that are targeted towards African Americans and Barack Obama. Apparently Bill O’Reilly is aware of Nas’ actions and had some words to say. Check the video below…

Sounds like Mr. O’Reilly is salty about Nas speaking up. Instead of ignoring Nas like he says people should do, he shows his unprofessionalism with a short segment of him taunting Nas and attempting to embarass him announcing “low” first week album sales. He makes it seem as if Nas’ aim were to sale as many records as possible, but he is just aiming to get his message out.

More Rick Ross Pics Emerge!

Okay not official flicks, but just some funny ass Photoshop’d joints. Check the pics & vid below.

Seeing is Believing 7/23: New Gnarls Barkley, DJ Khaled feat. Rick Ross & others, and Plies Videos

24 07 2008

Gnarls Barkley – Who’s Gonna Save My Soul
This video is from left field, but I’m feelin’ it. The heart scene reminds me of that famous scene from Alien/Spaceballs. Check out the J’s on the heart. If you’ve been sleepin’ on The Odd Couple album, you definitely need to check it out. Its one of the better and innovative albums that dropped this year.

Dj Khaled feat. Rick Ross, Plies, Trick Daddy, Boosie, and Ace Hood

This track is decent. But seriously, did we need another one of these Khaled and friends joints? As if “We Takin Over”, “Im So Hood”, “100 Million Dollars” and others weren’t enough. What happened to Lil’ Wayne’s verse? We Global will be in stores Sept. 16th.

Plies feat. Jamie Foxx and The Dream – Please Excuse My Hands

The self-proclaimed goon is back with his third single from Defninition of Real. This joint features vocals from The Dream & Jamie Foxx. Another track for the ladies.

Officer Ross?

22 07 2008

Despite constant denials from rapper Rick Ross, details have emerged proving the entertainer worked as a corrections officer in the mid-90s.

According to TheSmokingGun.com, Department of Corrections records have been released showing the rapper (born William Leonard Roberts) worked as a prison guard for 18 months beginning in December 1995. Provided by DoC spokesperson Jo Ellyn Rackleff, Ross’ personal information including his Social Security number was verified and proved his employment.
Further details show he graduated from the DoC training academy where he was later assigned to the South Florida Reception Center in Dade County before leaving in June 1997. The facility is allegedly one of the three statewide locations which intakes new prisoners. He reportedly was earning a salary of $25,794.34 upon his departure.

When previously asked in a YouTube video if he had ever worked in a prison after being called out by fellow Miami rapper Trick Daddy, Ross responded “No, that’s not true.”
Ross was unavailable for comment at press time.
