Seeing is Believing 10/24: New Common Video

24 10 2009

Common feat. Cee-Lo – Make My Day

Though Common’s Universal Mind Control was released 10 months ago, he’s still putting out videos for the album. “Make My Day” was one of my favorite cuts off the album, with the video being released today. The artsy video dropped out of nowhere, but we’re not complaining since this track still sounds nice!

Takin’ Em Back – 10/23

23 10 2009

Mack 10 & Tha Dogg Pound – Nothin’ But The Cavi Hit

A certain someone complained about my lack of LA music here on SpazAppeal so I’m posting one of my favorite throwback joints from the West. “Nothin’ But The Cavi Hit Shit” was the main single off of the Rhyme & Reason Soundtrack in the late 90’s, pushing the documentary’s soundtrack to Gold status. Aside from me posting more LA material and the track being timeless, I’m also posting this to remind people of how ill soundtracks used to be. There was once a time where artists would release big singles mainly for movie soundtracks and put some of their best contributions and collaborations on them.

Shout outs to my homegirl Ayla for the “hate”!

Dope or Nope 10/23: New Clipse x Killa Cam!

23 10 2009

Clipse feat. Cam’ron & Pharrell – Popular Demand (Popeyes)Clipse
Earlier this week snippets of this joint leaked, and now the full track is here. Cam, who’s been lowkey lately hops on the piano-driven Neptunes instrumental making this a sick collaboration. The Clipse third album Till the Casket Drops, is shaping up pretty nicely with songs like “Popeyes”, “I’m Good” and “Kinda Like a Big Deal”. Till the Casket Drops is coming December 8th!

Seeing is Believing 10/23 – 50 Cent “Crime Wave” (Short Film)

23 10 2009

50 Cent – Crime Wave
Two days after the track leaks, Fif drops the visuals for his street banger, “Crime Wave”. 50 rides around different borroughs of NY running shit and demanding respect. Reminiscent to his street videos from the Get Rich or Die Trying days, 50 gets back on his grimey tip with this joint and video.
I’m throwin in the remix to the joint as well featuring Gucci Mane.

This time Keri Hilson lends vocals to the track, while Jay comes in with his usual clever references. Dope or Nope 10/21: The Game Vs. 50 Cent

21 10 2009

New music: 50 Cent’s Crime Wave & The Game’s HeavenThe Game and 50 Cent

Earlier this week 50 Cent stopped by Big Boy’s radio show to discuss beef, Jay-z, and the possibility of recording with The Game. In the video below, he states he wouldn’t work with The Game in the future, check it out:

Though the two once made great Hip Hop material in the past, it seems like they’ll never reconsile their differences. Today, two new tracks hit the net per artist, which brought me to today’s Dope or Nope entry. Inside we got links to 50 Cent’s “Crime Wave” and The Game’s “Heaven”. Out of the two’s careers, who do you think put out better music? Get Rich or Die Tryin or The Documentary? The Massacre or Doctor’s Advocate? L.A.X. or Curtis? Not to mention, they are both dropping their fourth albums before the end of 2009.

Young Dro – R.I.P. (I Killed That Shit) Mixtape
00-don_cannon_and_young_dro-r.i.p.-2009-front
Remember Young Dro? The one who made “Shoulder Lean” & “Rubberband Banks”, who always had a line like “car the same color as (insert random color comparisson here)”. Well, he’s back with this mixtape with DJ Don Cannon of the Affiliates. The mixtape was anticipated amongst Hip Hop fans since we haven’t heard any new material from Dro and being arguably as one of Atlanta’s most underrated artists.
R.I.P. consists of 29 tracks and features appearances from T.I., Yung LA, oddly Biggie, and other artists from the Grand Hustle imprint.

Gucci Mane - Spotlight
MissInfo premiered Gucci’s official first single off of The State Vs. Radric Davis yesterday, which happens to be the Polow Da Don produced “Spotlight” featuring Usher. “Wasted” was considered the “warm-up” single, has received positive feedback and this joint shouldn’t be any different giving Gucci more of a mass appeal. Check out the link for the single below, and information on the December 8th album. BRRRRRR!!

Two days after releasing a new three-part, 30-track mixtape, Gucci Mane has launched the campaign in support of his forthcoming sophomore effort, The State Vs. Radric Davis.

The Atlanta rapper unveiled both a December 8, 2009 street date for the So Icey/Asylum/Warner Bros. Records release, and the album’s official first single, “Spotlight” featuring Usher.

The song, produced by Polow da Don, follows the national radio success of Gucci’s warm-up single “Wasted,” featuring Plies.

Additional production credits on the album include Drumma Boy, Mannie Fresh and Sean Garrett, who, along with Gucci, contributed to singer Mario’s summer hit “Break Up.”

The album also features appearances by Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, and Gucci’s So Icey labelmates OJ Da Juiceman and Waka Flocka.
