Forbes Hip Hop Cash Kings 2009
9 07 2009Forbes releases it’s annual list of the top 20 earners of the year for Hip Hop. As usual, Jay, Diddy, and 50 remain in the top five, but Kanye and Akon also make their way into the top five cash kings of 08-09. Some other new names that made their way onto the list are Flo-Rida and Rick Ross. Congrats to Hov for taking the number one spot bringing in 35 mill last year. Jay-z Peforms D.O.A. @ Hot97 Summer Jam

As usual New York’s Hot97 maintains it’s reputation for having surprises at its annual Summer Jam concert. This year Jay hit up Summer Jam to perform “Death of Autotune” that has the internet going nuts. Alongside Jay is Young Jeezy and ironically, T-Pain who can easily be mistaken on Hov’s anti-auto-tune track. Prior to performing his latest track he performed his verse for the remix of Jeezy’s “Put On”.

The highly anticipated (as of today) street single from Hov is here! The track is titled “D.O.A. (Death of Autotune)” putting an end to the excessive use of the autotune in hip hop. Ironically the track was produced by Kanye West, who made a complete autotuned album, and No I.D.. Jay also shouts out Wayne who uses the autotune heavily. This is a dope way to kick off Blueprint 3 dropping this September 11th!

Last week after Barack’s inauguration, Jay-z spat over the “My President is Black” instrumental labeling it the DC-Mix. This time around, Jeezy remixes the historical track and adds a new verse specifically for Bill ‘O Reilly and Dennis Miller.
