Dope or Nope 7/1 – New Alchemist feat. Lil Wayne

1 07 2009

Alchemist feat. Lil Wayne & Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes – I Know Your Name
alchemist560

Hip Hop producer Alchemist drops his album Chemical Warfare next Tuesday, with appearances from Eminem, Snoop, Fabolous, Clipse, KiD CuDi, and many more. One track that didn’t make the album is the Travis McCoy joint which features a auto-tuned Wayne. Not sure why it’s a left over track, but the tags are excessive on this joint.

Kanye West – Street Lights
Vodpod videos no longer available.

Kanye drops his sixth video off of his most eccentric album to date, 808’s & Heartbreak. To continue the artistic direction of the album, “Street Lights” is an animated video which is set in the future. This is one of my favorite cuts off the album, check out this video.

26 06 2009

Method Man & Redman feat. Erick Sermon – Mrs. International
Vodpod videos no longer available.

Method Man & Redman drop their second single off of Blackout! 2, “Mrs. International”. “Mrs. International” serves as the albums track for the ladies and features Erick Sermon on the hook. As usual, Meth and Red put humor into their videos by doing their rendition of an old singing group and Redman doing a quick Rick James rendition. If you still haven’t heard the Blackout! 2 album, you definitely have to check it out. Blackout! 2 is in stores now!

Dope or Nope 6/26 – Michael Jackson Tribute

26 06 2009

The Game feat. Chris Brown, Diddy, Polow Da Don, Mario Winans, Usher & Boyz II Men – Better On The Other Side

Less than 24 hours after the unfortunate passing of Michael Jackson, The Game hooks up with Puff, Polow Da Don, and various R&B artists for a tribute track. The MJ tribute is produced by Aftermath’s DJ Khalil (“Kinda Like a Big Deal”, “I’ll Still Kill”) and was posted on The Game’s Twitter. Very impressive track, and the lyrics are on point.

Takin’ Em Back – 6/26

26 06 2009

Nas – It Ain’t Hard to Tell

My throwback joint today is Nas’ “It Ain’t Hard to Tell” off the classic Illmatic album. The joint is still amazing till this day with it’s witty rhymes and swift delivery, and it also features one of my favorite MJ samples. The sample comes from “Human Nature”, one of my favorite Mike tracks, and it can also be heard on SWV’s “Right Here” (to believe Pharrell did ad-libs on there). Continue reading to peep the original Michael Jackson “Human Nature” track, as well as SWV’s sampled version.

RIP Michael Jackson

Dope or Nope 6/25 – M.O.P. Visits the Slaughterhouse!

25 06 2009

Slaughterhouse feat. M.O.P. – Woodstock Hood Hop (Prod. Nottz)
slaughterhouse
The Slaughterhouse (Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, & Royce Da 5’9) drops the street banger “Woodstock”. As usual, the Slaughterhouse lyrically kills a hard, gutter instrumental produced by Nottz. M.O.P. lends their hype presence to “Woodstock” making it the ideal track to hear live

Mixtape Madness: New CurT@!n$ Mixtape!

23 06 2009

CurT@!n$- The Great Adventures of Dope Boy C: Dope for President
Curtains Front cover
New MC’s continue to grind hard with the numerous mixtapes that dropped this month. To add to that, a new artists out of the West, CurT@!n$ drops his presidential themed mixtape, Dope for President. As far as apperances go, he’s got Tyrese and Bun-B featured on this joint. The back cover artwork (as seen inside) reminds me of Lloyd Banks’ Hunger For More back cover. I first heard CurT@!n$ at a U-N-I show at the Viper Room, and he can spit. Make sure you check out this mixtape! Hit up the full story for the tracklisting and download link.
