19 05 2009

TI GunLike usual celebrity sentences, T.I. gets his reduced to 2 months due to his agreement to do house arrest, community service, including his MTV docureality show Road to Redemption. Initially Tip was supposed to do a 366 day sentence for a weapon charge and the huge reduction proves that money talks.

Today was one of the first major release dates for hip hop in a while. Eminem dropped his highly anticipated Relapse album, Busta Rhymes got Back on his BS, and Method Man and Redman release their follow up to their Blackout! album. It’s obvious that Eminem is going to lead the sales with his reputation for chart topping albums and is slated to move around 300k units at Best Buy retailers alone for the first week. Method Man and Redman fall into second place on the sales estimates with Busta in third place. As the week goes on we’ll get a better idea of what the first week progresses. I copped Blackout! 2 and Relapse, which ones will you be getting?

Method Man – Judgement Day

As usual I’m droppin’ off my throwback joint of the week. Back when Y2K was approaching, people were going stir crazy. Therefore Method Man based his album theme on the Y2K craze. The video is supposed to be the aftermath of it all. On a side note, remember when Def Jam consisted of Jay-z, DMX, Method Man, Redman, Ja Rule, etc.? The good ole days.

LL Cool J feat. Method Man and Redman, and DMX – 4,3,2,1

Since LL dropped an album this week it reminded me of one of my favorite joints ever. Two reasons why this song is so sick; one, it introduced DMX to the hip hop world, and the second is it sparked the beef with LL and Canibus. Originally Canibus had a line referring to LL’s mic tatt, LL took offense to it and went in on Canibus on his verse. Canibus rewrote his verse excluding the LL line, but LL kept his verse he wrote causing LL to diss Canibus on the same track they appeared on.

I had to throw in the remix which featured Methodman and Redman, DMX, Canibus, and Master P!

Rock The Bells 2008!

22 07 2008

The lineup has been out for a minute, but I’m posting this for those who missed it. This has gotta be the hottest show since the Glow In The Dark Tour brought to you by Kanye and co. Nas and A Tribe Called Quest alone is worth it, but when you throw in Ghost & Rae, Red & Meth, Rakim, and a slew of others, you got one hell of a show. Rock the Bells will take place August 9th at the Glen Helen Pavilion in San Bernadino (and yes, tickets are still on sale). I’ll be there, where will you be?
