I don’t know how I didn’t post this joint since it’s been in heavy rotation since I heard it off The Renaissance (check it out if you still haven’t heard). Q-Tip makes a video for the funky “Life is Better” with Norah Jones, as he pays homage to Hip Hop and some of his favorite artists and inspirations. The Abstract takes an artistic approach for his “Life is Better” visualization by rendering black and white images with slight color. Nice video to compliment a dope track!

Dope or Nope 10/8: New Lupe Fiasco Joint
8 10 2009Lupe Fiasco – Fire

Lupe bounces back spittin’ viciously over a Jimi Hendrix sampled guitar riff on “Fire”. Unfortunately the track will not appear on Lupe’s Lasers album, but it’s a lil something to listen to while we wait in the meantime. The current single from Lasers is “Shining Down”, Lupe’s second collaborative effort with Matthew Santos as a single. Lasers is slated to be released December 15th.

News: The N.E.R.D. Gets The Girl
7 10 2009N.E.R.D. Adds a New Female Vocalist to Their Band
The Hip Hop/Alternative/Rock band switches things up for their fourth album titled Instant Gratification, by adding a female member to their group. N.E.R.D. enlists a singer by the name of Rhea as the female vocalist for their band making her first appearance on their 2010 album. Pharrell had this to say about the new addition to the band:
“Musically, we’re just somewhere else [with her],” Pharrell told MTV News. “The music is now very 3-D. It’s something you have to hear. But you’ll see. We’re definitely somewhere else. I want to leave that impact moment for when you purchase your download and you purchase your CD. The music is very three-dimensional. We’re just really excited. We feel like N.E.R.D. has always been the punks of hip-hop and the outcasts of alternative music — just a little different. But this time, we’re taking no prisoners.”
“Now you have this little Tinkerbell that’s just stepped in and has been amazing,” he said. “It’s made it a fun process. We can go in so many more directions, because we have the vocal support.”
This isn’t the first time a group added a female vocalist to their group while their career was in progress; Black Eyed Peas did a successful move by adding Fergie to their group.
N.E.R.D. fans, how do you feel?

Welcome Home Shyne Po! + Possible Deportation
6 10 2009
Almost ten years ago from today, Shyne was locked up for charges of attempted murder, assault, and reckless endangerment; after an incident in a Manhattan nightclub involving him, Diddy, and Diddy’s girl at the time, J-Lo. Shyne was then sentenced to 10 years in prison at Clinton Correction Facility in New York. During his 10 year sentence, Shyne released two albums and even got called out by 50 Cent.
Today, Shyne is released from prison and has been the topic of discussion this morning. The people are wondering if he’s going to work with Diddy, who’s showed some interest in working with Shyne again, how his music will sound, or will he still come with the raw rap style he was known for early in his career. There are also rumors of him signing to Jay’s RocNation imprint. Shyne also plans on releasing the follow up to Godfather Buried Alive titled Godfather Exhumed in the future.
Welcome back!
UPDATE
Shyne is currently in Federal custody being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at an undisclosed detention facility in Western New York State. Federal officials are reviewing the rapper’s immigration status and making a determination on whether or not he will be deported to his native country of Belize. Details are developing.

Girls, Girls, Girls: Chick of the Week 10/5 – Mya
5 10 2009
This week’s Chick of the Week is the lovely singer/actress, Mya. I forgot all about Mya till I got word of her planning a comeback in 2010 which reminded me of how sexy she is. Mya has been in the game for over 11 years, and is still one of the baddest R&B chicks. I actually got the opportunity to meet Mya as a shorty during a signing at King Music out here in LA where she complimented me on my charm. She’s also the typical chick I would go for, since I dig petite, light complected women, with a booty is a plus. Her soft voice, pearly white smile, and well-proportioned ass made The Game say “I had dreams, of fuckin, a R&B bitch like Mya when I saw that ass on the front of that KING”

5 10 2009
Over the past week, MTV would announce an entry in their highly talked about annual Top 10 Hottest MC’s in the Game list. The list began with East Coast veteran Raekwon and followed up with more New York artists, but then stirred up some controversy by placing Gucci Mane and Rick Ross in the middle of the list. The daily countdown ended at number 5, and numbers 4 through 1 was left a surprise for this Sunday’s program for the countdown. As expected, Jay-z was number one. Check the list below (click any of the artists names to view the article) and continue reading to view my interpretation of the list.
